Ive been looking for a safe but affordable townhome community in North Raleigh. Don't need anything fancy (pool, golf, tennis, etc. is not a factor), but would like something where I feel safe and that is reasonably convenient to north Raleigh. My price range is $100K-130K (at least 2 bedrooms, 2 baths) and I have found a lot of hits in that price range, but am not a Raleigh native and would like some input from those who have been in the area longer and may know the best areas for my money. All help is appreicated!
North Raleigh is very pricey and finding a townhouse in that price range isn't easy so you'll want to be careful about the n'hoods you choose. Not only that, but a townhouse in that price range is going to be older so keep an eye out on the HOA fees, as the older townhouses have huge fees. And if you can afford the fees, you may as well raise your price as your monthly payment comes out to be the same!
I live in the cottages of stonehenge, off creedmoor rd. I think it is exactly what you are looking for
I love those and the area is wonderful...my office is right down the street! However, the OP asked for townhouse community and although those look like townhouses, they are actually condos.
I live in Pine Knoll Townes, right off of Capital, and I've not had any problems here. Price-wise, you're looking pretty good for this neighborhood. I'm a single woman that lives by myself and I've not had any problems here. (Okay, one problem, but it was when I was surrounded by construction. My porch furniture got up and walked away one night. Boo.) That was two years ago, though, and I've seen no other problems. I don't worry about packages being left on my front porch and most of the neighbors are super friendly.
No community pool, tennis, etc., but we do have exceptionally low HOA fees.
