You need to understand that a superintendent search is an insider game where the head hunter knows and recruits specific folks who don't want it know they are looking for a new job. The head hunter knows who is looking to move UPWARD in prestige of district and salary. Advertising on line will get you superintendents who have been fired and assistant superintendents looking for a promotion. It will probably not get you top candidates. This way the process is done behind closed doors and if a candidate drops out you won't even know who they were unless they had been announced as a finalist. You may not like the process and many don't but boards of education who are charged with finding a new superintendent usually do in larger districts.
