by Dave Crumby, author of "REAL: A Path to Passion, Purpose, and Profits in Real Estate."

I have a confession. I’m writing you a letter to convince you to fall in love. The kind of love that sticks—that makes you smile; the kind that stirs your deepest passions. Stick with me….

Real estate is important. We travel to the corners of our planet to see with our own eyes the unique way the ocean washes up on a pristine beach. We climb its tallest peaks for the dubious pleasure of standing—five minutes, perhaps, or 10—on an inconsequential knob of land geodetically determined to be higher than anything nearby.

And as inconsequential in the grand scheme of life as it may seem, at this moment in time and space you and I have the distinct and honorable role of guiding people through the transfer of the most important piece of their lives.

^^ This ^^

I have been very fortunate in my career that I can count on one hand the number of people that I know who would not refer me to another potential client. We are entrusted with the task of coaching our clients through perhaps the single most expensive transaction in their life. It is highly emotional and a stressful task for a buyer and seller to go through.

What keeps me in the game is when I receive a thank you note many years down the road thanking me for a job well done and my buyer or seller didn't think they conveyed it during the transaction.

I am not a social person yet I love helping people. Go figure. I enjoy helping people better themselves in their real estate career and I enjoy helping my buyers and sellers get through a transaction. I love a challenging transaction that really makes me think. I love photographing homes and writing them up on the MLS and creating websites for them.

I hate marketing myself and I find it difficult to get new clients. That's what I don't love about this career. I need to get out and be social to meet new clients yet all I want to do is go home and sit on the couch with my husband and a good book, or take my dogs out training or hide up in my glass studio. Why does this have to be such a social career!

I have the green light to spend other people's money to purchase land to build new subdivisions. Going on 50M so far this year and should reach about 1200 new home sites by FY end
