besides outdated or incorrect listing information, zillow does squat about removing fraudulent listings.

I have found one veteran agent claim a house is for sale when it is not. The mansion just sold a few months ago for ~6mil by another agent, and this old timer just created an active listing for it under zillow... presumably to catch leads.
He also claimed to be the buyer agent of another $6mil mansion when the MLS clearly says he was not.
I reported it to zillow, and the info has still not been corrected.

too bad there is no oversight. Zillow is F'ing s__ up

Why is this Zillow's problem? It seems it's an agency or licensing problem re the agent.

Yep.
And there are regulatory commissions who LOVE to handle this sort of thing.

It's an agent in socal who's been in the biz since 1985.

Upon further investigation, he actually added a whole bunch of random listings to inflate his "recent sales" number on zillow.

I already reported this to his local board. We'll see what the ethics committee does, if anything.

Zillow is a place to ADVERTISE. It is the modern equivalent of the newspaper. Anyone with time and a little internet savvy can advertise anything on Zillow, if you have a little money you can upgrade your advertisement to show up more than the free postings. Zillow is NOT a Multiple Listing Service.

So as a Zillow user you should be aware that there will be some good, some spam. I don't disagree that Zillow could do a better job of policing what is posted. But what benefit is it to them to do this? The more "content" they have the more people will look at their site, which is what they want.

You should know by now, that you can't believe everything you read on the internet.
