I certainly take the info on Zillow with a grain of salt, but since I'm trying to find a retirement location it's valuable as a tool to get a general idea of what's happening in an area. I would never use it as an source when ready to actually start house hunting because the information is so out of date.
People like Z so much that we commonly hear:
"I know Z is always wrong, but Z says..." and then they cling to what Z says.
I believe their Creator granted them an inalienable right to do dumb things and inflict damage on themselves.

I purposely input exaggerated information into our MLS just to keep our Lawyers busy.

I'm paying for that E&O insurance every month and hate to see that money go to waste.

In terms of trusting data related to real estate purchases, make a list of all of the organizations that provide it, then alphabetize that list. That's pretty much the order in which you can trust the accuracy of your data. So Zillow......

But much of Zillow's information is gleaned from the Assessor's office.

So much for your theory...intriguing though it may be.
