I would suggest posting on the Arizona thread.

Impossible to know. It all depends on what type of soils you have and how deep you have to drill.

Get on the internet and find three well drillers local to you. Call them. They can give you an idea of what they charge per foot locally and may have a good idea of the soil type in your immediate area.

Remember to also add in the cost of the well pump, the wiring for the pump and the pressure tank needed.

Thanks. It was just a curious question and no need to go any further. We know of someone who got mad at the others on the shared well and dug their own. Seemed to me that would be an awful lot of money just to make a point but thought maybe it was a lot less expensive than I would think it was.

Last time I had a well drilled, it was $20 a foot but that has been a while. Question is the depth of the aquifer

Digging only, or also installation of a pump system and/or water softener?

I have a relative in California that recently had his well dry up and the new one was close to $10,000 for everything. That included some drilling in unproductive locations before a good one was found.

I had one person say they had one drilled pump and tank for $8,000 and another say they got an estimate for $17,000.

Entirely possible- again, it depends on your soil type (ease of drilling ) and depth of the well. You also have to have a good idea where a water source is before you drill. The cost to do that can be pricey.
