Is it just me, or does anyone else notice the seemingly over used term "team" with agents these days. It's team this, team that and it seems ooooh so cheesy to me. I'm a huge sports fan and understand the concept of team, but to equate it to real estate just seems tacky to me.
Anywhere there is two or more gathered persons, operating under a single realtor's license, they seem to always use "team."
It ranks right up there with terms like "upscale, platinum, gold, etc. Cheesy!
As an appraiser (a dis-interested third party) it always annoys me when an Appraisal Management Company tries to recruit me for they vendor list by asking me to "join their team".
Really? I always think of the term "team" as a group of people working together toward a common goal, so I don't see it as cheesy...
Which term would you prefer them use?
My "colleagues and I"... (pretentious)
My "associates and I"... (WTH?)
My "subordinates and I" ... (I'm the boss, dang it)
My "crew and I" ... (gangbangers)
My "squad and I".. (2,4,6,8, Who do we appreciate?)
My "faction and I"... (seriously?)
Well, you get the point. Sometimes, a word simply fits when there is no alternative

You are right. Sometimes the banal is also the most appropriate. The cliche is often the cliche because it works best.
And licensing laws make it interesting for a team leader to find a better label for the team.
"Group" is one alternative I see used increasingly.
"Crew" is good, BTW.
In that vein, one might also consider:
"Posse"
"Gaggle"
"Gang"
"Cohorts"
"Me and My Minions and Lackeys"
"Bunch," like bananas.
"Flock"
"Playmates"
"Herd"
"Thundering Herd"
"Nexus"

Is Keanu Reeves part of your Matrix, Mike J? If so, I'm sold...
"Posse"...LOLOLOL...
"Let me check with my posse, and we'll get that addendum for you asap, yo..."
