I owned my home prior to marrying. After I got married in 2008 I changed my last name on everything I could think of. Driver's license, passport, bank accounts, credit cards etc. I was going through my safe the other day and found the deed for my house and realized that it is still in my previous name. Does this matter? Do I need to change it? If so, how do I go about it? Do I need a RE lawyer to handle it? Thanks.
Yes, it is right option that can be helpful in getting through all the issues that can be arise so, So better to consult any good realtor that will help you in all the proceedings that are necessary.
I would just go to the recorder's office (or equivalent) with your deed and marriage certificate. I am sure the charge will be nominal.
