When my aortic valve was failing, the cardiologist advised me to have surgery while I was still relatively symptom-free. There are several options for the valve itself - mechanical, bovine (cow), or porcine (pig). My surgeon opted for the latter. Ever since, bacon in all of its incarnations is at the top of my list. Closely followed by chops, loin, ham, ribs, scrapple etc.

I once had turkey bacon. What is that?

As a good Wiltshire lad I found this article on Wiltshire Cure Bacon quite interesting.

There's even an American link in the story.

I hope that you can understand the various accents, and also understand why I missed home bacon when I lived in the US.

I hope that some of you take the time to watch this;

My B-L-T Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches consist of thick sliced bacon, crispy lettuce, sliced beefsteak tomatoes, a slice of cheddar, add a liberal shake of pepper...on rye or wheat bread, spread with miracle whip. I prefer my bread untoasted. Also, a couple of avocado slices on top are a bonus in season.
My sister used to do p-nut butter, bacon and banana...I could never eat that myself.

When we were kids my mom would buy wonder white bread, cook 1-2 lbs of bacon until very crispy, slather mayo on both sides of the bread and pile on 5 slices of bacon onto each sandwhich. It was soooo good and I like when the grease would soak through. On occasion we would have BLT's but just bacon and mayo on a sandwich is my favorite.

I love bacon with a passion but now have to limit myself to a couple of pieces and only use the low sodium.....but once you get used to the lower sodium, it's pretty good.

Growing up on the farm, we used to have hog jowl bacon and fresh side pork. Talk about some good stuff!!!!!!! The meat packing plants around my area still have both of those available for sale but those are a heart attack on a plate for me so I don't buy them.

jezer, thanks for the film. I enjoyed the fact that someone cared enough to continue the tradition, even if only a limited few people will be able to enjoy it.

My heritage is English - Dad born in Biddeford - and while there is a lot to be desired in the cuisine, I'm glad for anyone who sticks to the old ways when it comes to bacon. MMMM! Bacon, bacon, bacon!

I like a nice BLT on white toast with plenty of mayo and fresh grind pepper. I like a Bacon and peanut butter sammy on untoasted rye. I like bacon crumbled on Mac 'n Cheese. I saw Chocolate Bacon when we were at the beach but I didn't try it for fear that I might not like it and my bacon fantasy would end.

mmmmmmmm bacon. In summer there's nothing like cooking up several slices of bacon, toasting some thick cut bread, getting a large ripe tomato from the garden, some mayonnaise and making a great sandwich. No lettuce, no foo foo sprouts or anything else. It must be pure.

The ketchup sounds gross, but I'd like a little ripe avocado on mine.

I'd made one last night for "pre-dinner." (It's what I call dinner before my wife gets home)

I get two wheat slices toasted.

5 strips of thick-cut bacon. Microwaved.

Mayonaise.

Pre-packaged mixed greens.

In about 5 minutes you have a decent snack!
