With the holidays coming up, there will surely be a cheese ball in your future. Easy to make ahead, and good to take places, or give as gifts. Here’s an unusual one..
Chutney Cheese Ball
Ingredients:
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 9 oz bottle Major Grey’s Chutney, divided
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup shredded coconut
Crackers
Directions:
Mix 1/2 jar chutney with cream cheese, spices and pecans.
Form into 2 small, or one large ball by placing in a small bowl lined with plastic wrap. Twist wrap to form into ball. Chill until firm.
To serve, place the cheese ball on a bed of coconut. Drizzle with reserved chutney. Serve with bland crackers.
I used to make a Canadian cheddar cheese ball.....
12 slices bacon finely chopped
3 cups old shredded Canadian cheddar cheese
125 gram cream cheese
1/2 a cup chopped nuts of your choice
1/4 cup chopped curly parsley
Prepare bacon until crisp and reserve 2 tbsp drippings.Cream together Canadian cheddar cheese and cream cheese and add reserved bacon drippings.Next stir in bacon bits.Shape in a ball, roll in nuts and parsley.Wrap and chill overnight to blend flavors.Take 1 hour before serving out and let sit at room temperature.
Two packages of Cream Cheese
Two packages of Corn Beef or 1/4#
(1) Bundle of Green Onions
Place Cream Cheese into mixing bowl, Cut Corn Beef into little squares, Cut
Green Onions about the same size.
Mix all together, place on wax paper or plastic wrap and shape as desired.
place into fridge until it hardens.
For me personally, I put the mixture into a ' Cottage Cheese ' container lined
with plastic wrap and cover the top then snap on the lid till hard. I then center
it on a Christmas themed plate with different crackers around the edge and I
love using Flavored Pretzels to stick into it making all sorts of things, Reindeer's
are the most requested but anything will work as it usually does not last long.
Cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, Italian seasoning, mixed and formed into ball or log, rolled in toasted pine nuts.
My mom used to do a pair of cheeseballs and roll one in minced parsley, the other in minced dried beef. For, like, red and green. You gotta love the '60s.

This is a VERY Kid friendly
I make a similar one but use canned corn beef, it has more flavor I think, and I add either spicy mustard or a bit of horse radish and some nuts chopped..
