Hubby cannot have spicy foods especially Sriracha hence the reason I did not buy any. To my friend Zen head and feet were already off LOL.

Well that wasn't hoisin sauce and it wasn't duck sauce either unless you used some sort of fruit jam to sweeten it. Also sriracha isn't hot if you don't add a lot and balance it with a little sugar.

As well sriracha adds a different spice to the sauce than a Chinese red pepper would, which is classic Chinese.

Sriracha would be used in a Thai southeast asian style hoisin.

I made a smoked duck using a black tea and 5 spice marinade- it was an awesome recipe..Not spicy but very distinctive and flavorful. Nice departure from Hoisin and other staple sauces.. If you prepare duck often you might want to try it.

Well whatever it was hubby liked it. It was more of a garlic sauce I guess.
