recently, i was contacted by a single mom, "a serious Christian", who could not tolerate drugs or alcohol.
nevermind that i'm clear about being a drug-friendly athiest, even holding a beer in my photo, and somewhere in the profile i indicate that kids are a dealbreaker for me.
baffled, i pointed this out to her, asked her what she was expecting, and she responded: "Oh. I didn't read your profile."
I'm on a couple of free sites now, and I always check off atheist. (I'm a little a atheist, not a big A one...but I digress)
If Christianity is important enough that a man puts "I am seeking a God-fearing woman" in his profile, why is a guy like that contacting me? I usually respond politely saying, "As I am not a believer in your religion, I don't think we would be compatible."
Are these guys thinking they can change my beliefs (or should I say disbeliefs)? Or is it a matter of them just looking at my picture without reading my profile?
Gentlemen who peruse online sites - do you read a woman's full profile, or do you simply email them if you like what you see?
This exact same thing happened to me when I was online dating. I would always check off atheist/agnostic and would get winks and messages from "god-fearing" men. I wrote a few and asked them why they wrote me and the responses varied between, they weren't that religious, they don't care or they are just looking for fun. Some obviously did not read my profile.
I think people should be kicked off the site if they ignore requirements or if they are obscene, unless there is a section for people seeking obscene responses.
That sounds like fun! Somewhere, unlike CD, that I can post what I think without getting it deleted.
