This has got to be the best title for a thread I've ever seen. I'm not sure I can do "concise" or "wise" but I will try:
The thing to remember about Love is that it's a force of Nature with its own purposes and intents. It doesn't necessarily care about you, so much as it cares about moving the species forward. Love can be a harsh mistress, but if you give her proper respect and reverence, she can very well give you everything you will ever need as you pass through this life. If you make the mistake of thinking Love exists to cater to you and your whims, however, you are in for a rough ride.

One of my favorite Aha! moments in the form of a question, spoken to me by my brother who was going through a divorce at the same time as me; when asked how he managed to cope so well...
"Why should I cry over someone who doesn't love me?"
I agree that this is the best and most intellectual topic I have seen as of yet in the Relationship forum.
The irony of love is that it encompasses every contradiction. It hurts, it heals; it attracts then repels; we search for it, then run from it; we can't live without it but resent it.
Love cannot exist without respect and trust. Infatuation and sexual desire are too often mistaken for Love. Love without "like" is nothing but a mirage in my opinion. Love is one of the most over-used word in the dictionary. Never take anyone you claim to love for granted. Resentment and mistrust are the natural enemies of love.
Love puts you through tests that show your true character. Win or lose..its how you play the game that counts.
