Anyone here attending any office/work Christmas parties this year? In house at the workplace or bar/restaurant/hotel?

I am passing on the Christmas party this year. It was so lame last year that I would rather work than attend!

Since I felt somewhat appreciated at the annual evaluation today, I think I'm gonna go to show some appreciation in return 'cause I don't do it every year, particularly last few years when a whole Saturday is basically wasted on it. It's in a restaurant. Ever since it's held in this place, the food is very decent and the entertainment is bearable, but I just resent having to go.

I've been with my company 5 yrs now and I haven't attended one of them. I guess a couple of them wasn't so bad, its just that they always do it on a Saturday, and I just don't want to give up my free time to deal with and or see people I gotta work with on a weekend.

I don't know if that makes me a dyck or what.....

Coolhand, does the military throw big parties for Christmas? If so, are you planning on going?

I don't blame you, I wouldn't go on a Saturday either. Mine are different every year since I often move from office to office every couple of years. Most have been held at work, this year it's an afternoon off work at a nice restaurant so I'm going.

I could deal with that, get off work early on a friday and have a thingy...

I don't want to have to dress up semi-nice and see a bunch of peckerheads......

My husband & I work together for ourselves, so we don't get the perk of being invited to office Christmas parties.

The pessimistic side of me sometimes wonders if bosses don't put these things together to see how employees act with a few drinks in them. Or is that just paranoid?

Mine is on a Tuesday afternoon. Lame, but I'll take it, it's better than hanging around at work.
