I know a few from my social circle, I had went to college with them. These were girls you would have never guessed that they were getting thrashed for their occupation. I don't know any porn stars but I do know 2 people who were male escorts. Both of them saw it as just a job; a service they were being payed for. Both said it was extremely stressful. They said the money was good but you have to have sex with people who are physically unattractive. Plus business dries up after you lose you 20-something cuteness and your left with little skill or education other than entertaining adults with sex. It's a rough life, even if your a high paid escort. I don't recommend it.

It's pretty widely known that most in the porn industry suffer identity issues, personality disorders, addictions, daddy issues - mental health issues in general.
Many were runaways or foster kids. Others were sexually abused and so being exploited feels normal to them.
When you break it down and truly understand the tragedy of their lives it's hard to enjoy their film work.
