Most animal hoarders keep their animals in cramped conditions and don't treat them very well though (Poor sanitation etc.).

Yeah, again, this is an issue of the lack of understanding about what constitutes "hoarding." A person with the means and space to safely and sanitarily house a number of pets and/or livestock is not necessarily a hoarder.

When I think of actual animal hoarding - you know, the compulsive behavior/slash mental illness, not just having a lot of animals - I think of a trailer or studio apartment with 30 cats, or a puppy mill. You know, cramped space, squalid conditions.

This woman over in Venus had 50 dogs. They said they walked in there and the feces was up to their ankles.

Well, that sucks... maybe if my cable packaged included the channel that showed Animal Hoarders I'd know the dark truth about animal hoarding. :P

That's really true about people who hoard animals. They end up with so many that they can't take proper care of them. I can recall many news reports which usually involved senior citizens who had houses filled with cats or dogs (usually cats) and in the extreme cases they would have to send in people to rescue those poor animals from the horrible conditions they were living in.

I believe hoarding also includes owning even a single cat. What a waste of space. However, a person can have up to 1 dog per 1024 square feet.

My sister had 6 cats and they had their own dedicated room with 2 automatic poop scooping machines... the animals were just fine. However, she is still a hoarder in my book.

My mom is a hoarder. She hoarded potted plants at our old house and had maybe like 1000 of them inside and outside. If I sold all her plants I'd earn a fortune.
