How do you feel about your mate (or anyone) going into your purse/wallet to take money or anything? Do you feel this is your private property and it's
off limits to everyone?
I personally never allowed my son to touch my pocketbook He's knows nothing in my purse belongs to him. He knows to ask and I'm more
than happy to give. I did have this
problem with yaknowwho going in my purse and taking whatever he
thinks is okay. To me this is wrong. I never touch a mans wallet,
I do ask for cash if needed.
I don't touch my wifes purse and expect the same from her with my wallet.
The first year we were married I went to a store to buy a new fishing pole that I had wanted for some time, I knew I had the cash in my wallet, I reached down and took out my wallet and no cash, I was embarrased, in those days everybody didn't have a credit card, it was the last time she pulled that one.
My husband would never go in my purse without permission. Every once in a while he asks and I always let him, but I appreciate that he asks.
I sneak money into my husband's wallet. He never has cash on him, and it irritates me if he uses our debit card for small purchases (like a soda at the McDonald's drive-thru). So maybe once a month or so I'll slip in a $5 or $10 bill, or some singles.
Christina - Sneaking money into DH's wallet. that is so cute!
Typically speaking, we do not go into each other's wallet/purse. If I'm short on cash, I'll say, "Spot me 10 bucks" and he goes into his wallet and vice versa. We're on an "allowance system" right now as far as spending cash goes so we both pretty much know exactly how much is in our respective wallets. If for some reason it happens, we tell each other.
On the other hand, when I'm doing laundry and I'm emptying out pockets and see a few bucks, it's fair game in my book. He's notorious for not putting change back into his wallet so I've made a pretty penny!

That is too funny. I get so annoyed with using the Debit card at Starbucks, because if we ever go overdrawn, we get charged $35 for a $3.85 purchase. I think I am going to try putting some money in there next payday and see what happens.
Foma- we also started an allowance system and it works as long as we remember to go to the ATM. We spend too much on eating out is our problem.
I don't care if he goes in my purse. It's quite a mess, so he does so at his own risk. I still go through his wallet occasionally but he never has cash even though he isn't supposed to be using his debit card as much.
I also do the allowance thing. It has really curbed my spending and I have to save for things I want. Wallets and purses are off limits. If you want something, ask! There's nothing worse than going to purchase something and finding your wallet empty..... Especially when you knew you had the money!
I've only violated this rule once when my car broke down and I had to take a cab home. Justifiable emergency!
This has never been an issue for us. My husband may ask for some money, but more often than not i find extra $20 bills in my wallet.
