I make it a point NOT to learn about it. We go to tastings and whatever (to choose the wines we like), and I learn some things by osmosis, but I've seen people get snooty, or worse, disappointed by whatever "ordinary" glass of wine they order. So I just like to keep it casual...
Yeah, I hate wine snobs. I go down to napa and every so often and I usually do the bus tours because I like to be with people instead of doing a limo tour where you are by yourself. Anyhow last go around after our first stop the couple in front of us starts talking about the wine and he says, "I felt the first wave had vegetal fragrances of tomato leaf, green pepper, humid leaves together with the last one of smoke, brown soil, tobacco, black pepper!! What did you think?" Now I just copy pasted that off of a wine site. I don't remember what he said specifically but it was along those lines. Next stop more of the same. Thats when I figured out it was never going to end so I told him I thought the wine tasted like what I imagined dog vomit would taste like. Didnt have to hear another word from him.
I gravitate towards classical when I'm buzzed, but I can listen to electronica and rock at other times as well.
I have strange things around me. With one ear I'm listening to Tchaikovsky and Beethoven and with the other ear I'm paying attention to 2 heavyweight guys beating each other. Can 2 things be more opposite?
I have Ave Maria done by Giulio Caccini & Paul Pritchard going right now. The version comes from some movie but I dont recall it. Next up is Claire de Lune by the LSO. I had been listening to Foo Fighters but now you got me switched over.

I love Ave Maria, but I have to say I've never heard that version. I usually listen to Pavarotti singing it.
I had Vivaldi Four Seasons going just now, "The Winter" one.
ETA: just heard it...I love this...I have to say, it's a great rendition by Caccini.
One of my beagles finally paid the price for all the fights she starts with SD's dog. She has a puncture wound on her head and two staples in her chin.
Last weekend the other beagle got into rat poison. She will be fine, but I have had my fill of vet visits! I swear I need a punch card or something.

I'm sure it's expensive too!
