Child development texts often refer to a small peak in the opposite sex around the age of 5, and then a period where (heterosexual) children are not attracted at all and even come to despise the opposite sex. This happens around the age of 7 to 10. Then puberty begins (or at least "social adolescence") and of course sexual interest spikes.

Did you go through the "not attracted at all" stage? I didn't. As far as I know, that makes me the odd one out. Also, at what age did you become attracted to girls (boys), or in boys (girls)?

Oh hell yea. I believe for me it was from birth to maybe age 8, then I started to like boys on TV (and Michael Jackson).

But I still found real-life boys revolting until maybe age 13.

I remember hating all boys and thinking I'd always hate them.

*sigh* Ahhh, sweet childhood.

No I'm pretty sure I came out of the womb with a huge boner for the nurse that was holding me.

I think its just a boy/girl thing..it does not have anything to do with being unattracted to the opposite sex...

Yep, thought girls had cooties etc. Someone spread a rumor I had kissed a girl and I vehemently denied it!

Those are some strange years.

While my 8.5 year old daughter seems to feel the same as she always had about boys (they're pretty stupid in her eyes,) she is disgusted if anybody is kissing on TV or even if kissing is mentioned in a song. She makes me change the radio station saying it's not appropriate for her . My other daughter (who is 6) adores most boys and has had numerous 'boyfriends' throughout her kindergarten year. I just can't wait for puberty!

I don't remember ever going through an "I hate boys" stage. I had crushes on boys when I was in preschool. I do remember pretending to hate boys, when my parents would embarrass me about who my "boyfriends" were in school (back then, "boyfriend" just meant any boy you liked).

As far back as I can remember, I thought some boys AND men were attractive. Not all of them, yuck! But one or two per school-year. I even went through a stage in middle school where I was in love with 2 boys at the same time. I was dating neither!
