Rance & Hannah, I'm always reading, but don't often post, you have lots of supportive people here, probably enough to fill a wedding reception!
My husband and I knew each other for a year, he was in Okinawa for 7mos of that time, and 15hrs away from each other for the remaining 5mos...we were so in love, we still saw each other every-other weekend during the 5mos he was in the states. Then we met in Hawaii on his R&R and got married - wouldn't change a thing!! The memory is a gift to our lives...it's 37yrs later, 3 children, 3 grandchildren have graced our lives, and it was the best decision we ever made.
I won't say we didn't have our problems ~ we were young 19 & 22 ~ and consequently we grew up after we married ~ not the best plan, but we handled it and we have been blessed! One note...my MIL & FIL never liked me, nor treated me well from day one...everyone assumed it was bec I wasn't their nationality (they were born in Europe)...I think it was bec we married in Hawaii and they weren't there. We pooled all our $ and invited each of our parents to be in Hawaii for the wedding, my Mother was the only one who came, and she ended up being my Matron of Honor ~ an eternal family joke!
