How much of an impact does scent have on your memories? your relationships?

I love making polls. But this is a big thing for me, scents.

Nothing can bring an old sometimes painful memory to the surface, like a stiff whiff of an ex-lover's cologne or aftershave... for me, at least.

How comfortable would you be if your new "significant other" smelled like your "old significant other" ?
Do you cry when you pull out an old concert shirt that used to belong to him, that still smells like him? or is it just me...

I'm not a lady, but my .02 is, Yea when I smell a scent from an ex, it brings back the memories. Would I want a future mate to wear it, NO. The past is the past.
I still have things of my ex. Some is no biggie and some still brings a tear.

Well now, I love Angel by Victoria Secrets and Tommy Girl. Love that on a female. But there are few others too.

I tend not to wear perfume at all ~ it all has this underlying reak of alcohol... they're all alcohol based, (big surprise!)

I stick to lotions, and body sprays / body splashes.

My most loved is a lotion from Bath and Bodyworks called Vanilla bean noel.
It's christmas stock only...so i stock up plenty each year it comes around.

It smells like vanilla cake batter. sugar cookies..cotton candy. you name it, people want to eat my arm!!

a lot....first let me say, I've been called a sheer, a witch, and many other names, (some of which I can't mention here) that being said, I do possess an uncanny perception at times....so, scents absolutely do bring about memoires and relationships for me. I can be doing something, out and about...my mind a blank, and can hear sounds...far away...

for me, it's his scent...nothing to do with aftershave or cologne, but the scent of people....each of us having our own....

Not uncomfortable at all, as I love scents...all kinds...I can smell weather, griddy hot blacktop, the steam off of it in an Africa hot summer, during a shower...the forest, even animals, certain ones have their own scent....and I'm thinking Rance would know what I'm talking about, living up there in the wilderness, his scent glands have had to be hightened from the clear crips clean air? Yes Rance?

Interestingly, no, I don't cry, or am sad, but am remarkably heightened by the love I felt for that person...I never knew loving someone that much was possible....

Hugs
creme

I love body sprays, lotions and oils. I do like perfume, but as Arctic says, it has alcohol and wears off so fast so I prefer to use something that will last, and that would be the only reason to try and steer clear from it. (Because it evaporates too son).
As far as a guy wearing something a past lover had worn, it wouldnt bother me.
There is one scent I dont care for, but thats because someone I knew use to go overboard with it. Heavy. But there is another scent that absolutely drives me crazy (in a good way) but it will never have the same effect as the person who wore it.
But a touch of anything is better than the smell of sweat or body odor though.

Default Umm..

No... scents don't bring memories... but music does.

I don't wear much perfume... just in the evenings cause we're not suppose to at work (allergies)...

I love Angel by VS... I have Euphoria (my fav) Amaridge, Oscar, Tocade, Red Door...
