I just watched The Notebook. Had always planned on reading the book before seeing the movie but since I have a stack of books to get through first, said what the heck.

Now I know I'm a girl...but I don't know how someone could NOT cry during this movie. Holy Crow. I think the last half of the movie I just sat there blubbering at the screen.
I just read the book recently. I didn't care for it. LOVED the movie! In my opinion, the movie far surpasses the book on so many levels. In the book - the characters and the story are just one-dimensional. In the movie - the characters are quirky, spunky, passionate, caring, and so many other wonderful things that real people are made up of, too!

Point being - stick with the movie!!! Oh - and usually, I love the book, hate the movie!

That is unusual for a book.

Oh I am so glad you told me this!!! I was kind of feeling like I cheated and once you see the movie, it's hard to go back and read the book and appreciate it.

I've seen a few other book-turned-movies of his and they were okay. Nights in Rodanthe was okay but I think I liked the book better. Dear John...uggh the movie was absolutely awful but I loved the book.

I've read the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books and there is a movie coming out about the first book in the series in Jan. It looks good in the trailer so I'm hoping it's not a letdown.

I know! There are very few movies that I think live up to the book - To Kill A Mockingbird, the Pride and Prejudice mini-series with Colin Firth... those are the two that come to mind that I feel truly lived up the book.

I haven't read any of his other books - but I was really surprised that the movie had so much more to it than the book did!

To Kill a Mockingbird was an outstanding movie truly worthy of the book. I always liked Gregory Peck and he was never better.

Couldn't agree with you more!
One of the best books of all time and one of the best movies of all time. And I love Gregory Peck!

I had to read to kill a mockingbird in school, and while reading it, I fell asleep every time.

I think I saw the movie, but I can't recall it.

It's not the same when you are a kid. I think I might have read it in school as well. When I was in school - I didn't read most of the books I was supposed to and now, as an adult, I read like a fiend! Anyway - To Kill A Mockingbird is one of THE best books in existence. If you like to read at all - READ IT! Honestly - you get so much more out of it as an adult. You just aren't capable of appreciating it as a kid the way you are as an adult. I understand why they have kids read it in school but it's almost a shame that so many might never pick it up again. It truly is an amazing book. Oh - and the movie is brilliant! But once again - I think you need to be an adult to truly appreciate it.

Sorry - I'm a big fan - can you tell?
