I've heard "handsome," but never "hot." Shucks. In today's society, it seems "hot" trumps "handsome."
I think there's certain cheapness to "hot" when describing a woman. I prefer "stunning" or at least "beautiful." "Pretty" and below doesn't cut it if somebody wants to get into my pants!

Very true about the first part - another "double standard" at work.
But I have to settle for "cute" because that's usually the compliment I receive.
