I never really believed the premise you refuted by example. Tons of losers, addicts, abusers and yes even murderers get women of varying quality. We've all seen it, its a big world out there.
Depends on what you mean by "get women." If you're referring to getting into a long term relationship with a woman and ultimately marrying her, yes, you do need everything you mentioned. However, if you're just referring to getting a woman in bed and having a fling, you don't need anything more than a decent personality and good looks.
While most women would never want to marry a good looking (and built) broke guy who's irresponsible, they'll have no problem having a fling with him.

Came across an article about a man on MSNBC and decided to have some Google fun. He killed and tortured at least 4 people including a Christian Mission couple.
He was also a truck driver, which is a fine profession, but one I'm not sure most women would equate with success or wealth.
