NFL Team's 'Marriage Test' For Free Agents | ThePostGame

Quote:
Mike Mularkey, the Jaguars' new head coach, stressed free agents that have a good family life would become a priority. "If you're happy at home with your wife at home, I think the energy level is higher," Mularkey told the Wall Street Journal. "It's very important to me ... There's a lot that goes with being married. I just believe the happier you are with your wife, the happier you are on the field. I really believe that."
Is there something to this? Personally I think the Jaguars will keep themselves in the NFL basement thinking like this.

Smart move by the Coach. I 100% agree with him.

He just doesnt want any stupid knucklehead athletes on the roster who are always at strip clubs making it "rain" and doing things that uneducated low lifes do. Also, have you ever seen shows like "Basketball Wives"? What a bunch of less than classless, idiotic, halfway to retards, type stupid women are on that show. Life cannot be happy for an athlete who has to be around women like that.

Can't blame them. Wife swapping among players should be a fun experience.

I mean, I respect the guys ideals and stuff. I'm sure that happily married men are...happier, the Jaguars are turrible, and if this is a reason why he's choosing certain players over others who might help him win, i say it's time to adapt a new system of ideals for the football team.

It applies to any area of work. If you have less stress and turmoil at home you are less distracted at work. It doesn't just apply to athletes.

Sounds like 1962 instead of 2012. Jacksonville? No surprise, either.

+1000!

Back when the Dodgers were good, they insisted that their players get married. While that didn't always work, it spoke to the organization's desire to have a team full of men whose priorities were family.

Of course they want married players with stable home lives, teams get tired of having to bail out dead beat dads like Antonio cormartie, who has 9 kids with like 8 different women. And who owed so much in child support that the ny jets had to give him and advance in his pay.
