There have been a number of factors that have brought this about. Media for women and porn for men being two of the main one's.
So approximately 80% of the total population of adults are hopelessly single?

Pretty much. The b*tch shield is always up for the men they don't find attractive. Average to below average looking women also do this. So it's not just the extremely attractive women that are standoffish.

Do you really expect people to be open to dating someone they dont find physically attractive or interesting at all just because that person approaches them and hits on them? I dont think its a ***** guard, just a guard. Thru the years I've found that if you are remotely nice to random guys that hit on you it only encourages them to become almost stalkers.

Perhaps 40% just set their expectations too high. Do people really believe they will have enough in common with someone 100X better looking, 100X wealthier and or completely different backgrounds and interests than themselves to form and maintain a LTR?

I'm stand offish, not because I'm mean but because lots of men are so forward it almost becomes harrassment and it kinda brings fear over me, you can never just smile or be nice without it turning into Somethng else . I've been groped chased cursed out etc , now I just look mean in hopes I get left alone

I don't think that he's talking 100x better. More like average over looking average bc they're trying to get the above average person.

So you & a few others are letting a couple of rotten tomatoes stop you from being polite or nice? I would venture a guess that the majority of men don't act the way you described. But as a result you're going to not smile & look mean on the off chance that some random may say something stupid. It just seems like overkill to me. You must be like super hot or something if you're getting bad reactions most of the time. Oh well.
