I just came across this today, at this site: Sexual attractiveness as a function of age « stage two

I had no idea it was like that. I thought women would basically peak at 20 and go all the way to 40, but apparently it dips down super fast at around 30. Maybe that explains why women 20-30 yrs old are all out trying to find prince charming in hopes that when they hit 30, they'll be able to settle down knowing their physical attractiveness isn't going to get any better.

For all you women on here, were you aware of this? And how does this influence how you live your life while at your "peak"? What about after your peak?

for us men, all i see is that it peaks at 30 and goes to 55, so we have more time to enjoy our prime than women. Its weird that its still pretty low at the age of 20... Maybe thats why a lot of women at the age of 23 are looking for daddys (30 year olds+) instead of going for men their age.. thats pretty ****ed up but i guess we all get our turn at one point in our lives.

This graph doesn't mean much without revealing the age of the "voters" for each of the polls.

For instance, when I was 24, attaractive females ranged from 18 - 33. Now that I am 55, attaractive females rane from 18 - 60.

I think it all depends on the person. I take these types of charts and graphs with a huge grain of salt.

Was I aware that the older people get the less attractive they are? Yep.

A couple years after my husband passed away I dated from 42 to 44. Overall not really that different.

But, less attractive according to what group(s) of people?

That's the big question.

I guess to men or women in general? I think we will always find a hot 20.... hot.

But the 20 year old probably won't find the 70 year old attractive, but a 90 year might.

I'm like you though.... huge grain of salt. And whereas something might be generally true, it doesn't apply to individuals.

I can't sleep at night because of graphs like these. All I can think about is what some graph on some website says about my level of attractiveness. All the time that I don't spend with my husband, my son, my dog, my friends, my neighbors, my family - is spent crying over my lost prime years. I'm 36 - I might as well be dead.

Hahahahaahah! Who gives a flying crap what some graph says?

I don't think so. Look at age at marriage for men and women and it's around man's age = women's age +2-3. Also, OKCupid analyzed the stats for their users and peak age of attraction as measured by response rate was woman = 26, man = 30, funny how that's almost average age at marriage for each gender.

Once I hit my 30's I lost any ability to judge women's ages anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I've seen this before, but the blogs always post an erred graph. I have the correct one for the OP's benefit.
