"Gotta Serve Somebody"

You may be an ambassador to England or France
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

Might be a rock'n' roll adict prancing on the stage
Might have money and drugs at your commands, women in a cage
You may be a business man or some high degree thief
They may call you Doctor or they may call you Chief.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

You may be a state trooper, you might be an young turk
You may be the head of some big TV network
You may be rich or poor, you may be blind or lame
You may be living in another country under another name.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

You may be a construction worker working on a home
You may be living in a mansion or you might live in a dome
You might own guns and you might even own tanks
You might be somebody's landlord you might even own banks.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

You may be a preacher with your spiritual pride
You may be a city councilman taking bribes on the side
You may be working in a barbershop, you may know how to cut hair
You may be somebody's mistress, may be somebody's heir.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

Might like to wear cotton, might like to wear silk
Might like to drink whiskey, might like to drink milk
You might like to eat caviar, you might like to eat bread
You may be sleeping on the floor, sleeping in a king-sized bed.

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

You may call me Terry, you may call me Jimmy
You may call me Bobby, you may call me Zimmy
You may call me R.J., you may call me Ray
You may call me anything but no matter what you say.

You're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

The buck always stops somewhere. SOMEONE is ultimately at the helm. Does that mean that person carries unlimited powers? No, of course not.

Leadership is a service and a great responsibility, and a position that demands integrity and earned trust. It is not an entitlement.

Besides, there was no such thing as a housewife back then because there weren't even houses. The housewife is a relatively new thing. Also, women back then were treated as property.
So why are you a Christian then if you don't believe in parts of the Bible?

Being a Christian doesn't mean I have to believe everything. Also, men always forget the part that the man has to respect his wife.

Cherish her, in fact, and be willing to lay down his life for her, as Christ laid down His life for His bride, the Church.

But they always forget that part.

Real leaders Lead. They don't say that they should lead.

Most guys I have met who have felt the need to say that "men should lead" were rather insecure control freaks who were looking for someone to walk all over.

Real men do what they have to do. They earn their right to lead. They prove that they are worthy of leading (not that they seek to prove anyway). They don't seek to control other people.

Yes you do. You can't be part of a religion if you pick and choose what you want to follow. You are basically saying that you know more than god and that you are right, and god is wrong.

I'm not sure what relevance that second sentence has on the topic when the bible clearly states you should be doing the traditional roles you detest. You can be the leader of the household and still respect your wife. Being a leader is not mutually exclusive with respecting your wife.

I've been wanting to reference that all day but could not find the exact words. Thanks.

It's not about not "believing" the Bible

It's about taking the time to study it and educating yourself about the CONTEXT the scripture was written in.

Obviously you know nothing about the bible and I would suggest you learn instead of trolling sites and posting things of which you know nothing. Just because I am a Christian doesn't mean I have to play traditional roles and I posted above the whole housewife role isn't mentioned in the bible because it didn't exist back then. However slavery did and stoning and many other things that are immoral.
