It seems to be there are some ridiculous lengths that some people will go to to convince themselves they are still "virgins". In some conservative Islamic countries were hymen tests are the norm before marriage, anal sex is the preferred pre-marriage substitute. These women still consider themselves "virgins" and therefore are still 'fit to be wed' - despite having regular anal encounters.
This custom of re-defining sex is by no means uinque to the middle east. Some women here in the west prefer anal sex for the purposes of being able to claim virginity.
Other men and women will engage in oral sex and hand-j*bs for the same purpose. In fact, many high school 'celibacy groups' actually encourage members to engage in these activities as a substitute to intercourse to maintain virginity. Ironically, these same people claim to be 'virgins' to future partners - despite having engaged in countless hand and mouth sexual activity.
How do you define virginity? It is just when a hymen is broken - thus allowing anal sex and other activities to have no impact on virginity? Or are you no longer a virgin once you have engaged in oral sex (both for men and women) or even hand j*bs?
Does it seem ridiculous that people can engage in anal sex, perform oral sex and hand j*bs while still claiming to be virgins simply for not having had vaginal intercourse?
Seriously though, so if someone gives (or receives) a BJ, they are no longer a virgin? That is not how I define it, but I guess the definition of the word itself ("virgin") allows for some interpretation of how it is applied. As stupid as this thread seemed on the surface, it's turning out to be kinda interesting.
I think there's vaginal virginity, anal virginity, oral virginity, and manual virginity.
I think this is probably the best way to look at it (if you absolutely MUST define virginity). It's a word that was defined by conservative religious figures who preferred to deny the existence of sexual activity outside of missionary position.
You don't want one from Grandma for Christmas, I can tell you that much.
