Guys cant flex in online pictures, but girls can wear pushup bras and suck in their stomachs. As if thats not noticeable.
"Gee look at how flat her tummy is. Well, I mean, above the belly button it isnt, and below it it isnt either, but right where you would suck in, her tummy is so flat."
I dont care, because I like my girls a little meaty, but it looks just as ridiculous to see a blatantly obvious attempt at sucking in.
I agree. It is a double standard.
I say screw it. If women can't highlite a certain part of their body, men should be able to as well . . .within reason.
Oh, and the comment about peacock . . . well if look at the birds of the world . .
the male is the more colorful one, with feather displays, while the female is brown/dull.
Any guy with a shirtless photo he took himself in the mirror is automatically dismissed.
Here's the thing, though: they probably aren't looking for chicks like you who are most likely looking for a serious relationship. Instead, the guys with the shirtless pics are looking for hookups with chicks who are also looking for hookups or a fwb type of deal. That said, you're probably not a part of their targeted demographic, hence it shouldn't really matter to you.
Below 30, I don't care because I'm 36 and won't date the guy anyway. And when I was under 30, I would have been less put off, just because I was doing dumb things then too. But, come to think of it, none of the guys I met online back then had posted shirtless-in-a-dingy-bathroom pics either.
If anything, it's more impressive if a guy is 30+ and is totally ripped.
Impressive to whom? Most women do appreciate a nice-looking, fit man, but plenty of us don't care if he's "totally ripped". That's the kind of thing that men do to impress each other, not women.

Exactly.
In the same way women's fashion is mostly for pecking status among other women and for her own self-esteem, because most men wouldn't notice the details.
I like well-built men but I don't feel that they should have to show off in an overt way in order to get attention. If they look good in a flattering shirt, then that's way more attractive to me than showing off their muscles at every opportunity.
