Looks like theres a trend, at least for women. Want a short term relationship? Date an artist. Want a long term relationship? Find an Engineer or IT person. Want something in between? Date a Fireman or Cop?

Men are more more often into physical appearance of a woman so a womens job doesn't come into play as often.

First bf (which turned out to be a longterm FWB situation...ahh, naivete of youth) was a cashier for a large retail store.

Second bf was in retail/customer service for a tennis equipment manufacturer.

The guy I'm very VERY tentatively into right now is the co-owner of a pub here in Boston.

I'm all across the board...my current relationship and most recent past relationship were by far my most serious.

My current SO is a Navy chief.

My former is an insurance claims adjuster-turned-accountant.

Guys I dated less seriously prior to those two? A sports writer, a guy who managed a shopping mall, an off-ice official for a minor-league hockey team, an environmental scientist who did air quality control for the EPA, an auto mechanic, a firefighter, an adjunct professor of French and English lit., a bouncer at a bar, an Air Force sergeant...

Academics, tradesmen, military, corporate drone, scientist, retail, security, fire protection...no real rhyme or reason. I met a lot of people in different walks of life when I was a newspaper reporter, which accounts for some of the variety. I was always in contact with a diverse crowd.
