Their reaction tends to be a bit bemused, but generally positive. Or maybe that's the concussion talking.
If a man says to a woman, "How would you like to go to Paris?" then he's basically letting her know he's especially interested in her.
The guy I'm sorta dating now does all of those things (his coworkers/friends know about me, his family knows about me, he's very affectionate even in public etc. etc.) and we have plans brewing for the next few months, but going by past experience none of that matters because they can up and completely disappear at a moments notice. So, even planning things in the future is no guarantee he is actually going to be around to do those things with you.

Eh, maybe it will maybe it won't. I'm enjoying his company and he's enjoying mine as far as I can tell and I have zero expectations and fully expect him to up and disappear at some point.
