HORRORS! And you're not worried about what a 25 or 30-something woman might think at the prospect of dating 44.5-year-old you?

You're wrong. 55 is deep middle-age. Even so, many 50-somethings still look youthful and are full of energy.

Why are you so fixated on young women? You're in your 40's! Get real.

That's not fair, though, that you got passed over at the Houston job interview. You might have had a case for age-discrimination. 40 is the lowest age that qualifies for that type of lawsuit.

But 40 isn't old. You should still be full of energy and exuberance. Maybe you should get some help for depression. A long period of unemployment can have that effect. And while you're at it, you can discuss your issues with women with the therapist.

That really hurts me as I feel old and that I can't date a hot 22 year old woman, unless I was rich and she didn't mind the age difference. I think I have to resort to dating 30 to 42 year old woman. My good fortunate is I keep healthy and slim enough by not overeating and occasionally exercising. When I was 32 years old I looked worse than now because I was an obese 205 lbs. Lost the weight to 145 lbs which I kept for 5 years through frequent bike workouts but I got burned out on that so now I'm 160 lbs but still look slim enough to wear size small shirts on my 5' 4" frame. But I prefer size medium shirts for comfort, and in case I get fatter. Now when the weather gets cool I will temporarily go on a diet & exercise plan to lose weight. Fall 2012 went from 163 lbs to 152 in maybe 10 weeks then I quit. Through eating mistakes I got back up to 160 lbs today.

Anyway, I'm blessed with youthful looks. When I went to Culver's to get my free birthday ice cream scoop I asked the manager to guess my age; he said somewhere around 28 to 30. They were surprised when I said I was 44. 45 is deep middle age to me, and at this age I should be a SR Design Eng pulling an $85,000+ / year job. But it really hurts when companies won't even hire me for a $54,000 job, like Ingersoll Rand in Rockford for an Aerospace Technical Writer. So that's why I'm alone and without a woman in my life; God hasn't answered any of my prayers and from going to church for a good paying permanent job in Chicago.

5 years unemployed is really hurting so sometimes I think I should apply to a city or gov job or do something else to make money. I don't know what other job to do beside CAD, Mech Eng, Mech Designer, or Tech Writer jobs. Companies are lowballing salaries of CAD and Mech Eng jobs too. Like a Solidworks CAD Drafter job is now $14 to $17 an hr, and I saw a 5 year + experienced Mech Eng job state the salary range to be $35,000 to $55,000 per year - that's entry level grad salaries.

So life should be depressing now but what keeps me happy are my possessions, like $38,000 in bikes, lotsa clothes, and a $5000+ PC gaming rig built 2 years ago. And getting a good enough SSDI that I don't have to work a minimum wage job makes me happy. I'm not lazy and I don't plan to live like this, it just helps me a lot during my unemployment. I've applied to jobs maybe 240 weeks of my 257 weeks of unemployment.

How about you? Didn't it hurt to get to be middle age or old? I wish I was 24 now and having a good career. In 5.5 years I'll be 50 and what young women would marry a 50 year old? I ask God to really help me now because I'm getting to old for women, and at this age I NEVER EVEN DATED A WOMAN.

Age really is just a number, so no, I am not "hurt" or "freaked out" by mine.

You sound like someone who really needs some professional guidance.

Please make an appt to speak to someone!

Call you local United Way Agency - they can set you up with someone.

Good luck.

Are you talking about he cross dressing, the felony record, or the unwillingness to take any job but a TOP job, even after being so long unemployed?

25 year olds don't want to date a 44yr old guy with no job who prides himself on cross dressing. Facts are facts, weird people generally find it hard to find an attractive, normal partner.
