i agree pointless. there's basically 2 reasons someone wouldn't. main reason being they are in a relationshipand dont want their SO or their friends finding their profile. reason number two lack self confidence and why wouldn't someone wana be with someone like that. it may work for girls but definately not for dudes, only reason it would work for girls is if they reach out to guys and b/c guys dont get bombarded with messages a guy may respond back and ask for a pic
I'm on the Trailing Edge of technology; I did not own a PC until 1992 when I bought a bunch of parts at a trade show and put them together. Now I own a cell phone and at the rate I'm going I expect to own a smartphone in about five years.
Seems like a waste of time putting up an online dating profile and not include any photos.
Of course once you chat with them they can then share them. Why bother with the hassle.
Better off just putting them up straight away. You can still protect your privacy with what the photos you share show. Any photos are better than none.
When I was doing online dating. The girls/women that included photos from the get go, were much more likely to get my messages than those without.

I never put any pictures on one site, and I am none of those. (Never any unsolicited messages to me on that site, FYI.)
Elsewhere my pictures have been deliberately mysterious, partly out of shame and signaling weirdness but mostly to prevent positive or negative reactions to me based on my appearance. The theoretical advantage of the Internet is to first get know people on the inside. Sure, I'm willing to give people some idea of what I look like (just as I'd want to bypass individuals with a body type that does nothing for me), but I want to screen out the superficial types who don't care enough about who I am as a person and compatibility in things like interests and values. If I were mainly looking to get laid (ONS or dating without caring whether it leads to marriage), then I'd recognize the need for good pictures.
