Have you ever engaged in "baby talk" with a lover or romantic partner? Was it a sign of closeness, vulnerability, avoidance of conflict, avoidance of sex or other?
(I'm writing an article for a magazine on this topic and am curious what your experiences have been).
She does not use "baby" talk really. But she has this way of saying my name that just cracks me up. Like a sort of Reeeeaaaannnncccceeee. Compiled with this amazing eye blinking thing she does...I turn completely to jelly. I love it.
Yes, I would baby talk with all boyfriends of the past. I also baby talk with all my pets, my parents, and several of my friends. I have different voices for everyone. I also have different voices for my animals.
I use "babytalk" but it's not really "babytalk" ... more like a cute plea for something I want. Works every time.
I do not, however, use it in day-to-say conversation. Nor would I subject anybody else to it. My husband is stuck with me for better or for worse but you can choose who you want want to be friends with!
The only time I use baby talk with a man is if he is acting like a baby and I do it in a taunting way. Like saying "suck it up, your acting like a baby".
I do it all the time with my cats because I think of them like babies.
