I think people get spoiled by erotic books and movies. All night long is a well worn phrase, but when you think about it, very few people have the stamina to engage in sex for hours on end. Of course, the 3-13 minutes here refers to penetrative, heterosexual sex, which actually comprises a small proportion of good sex (IMO, of course.) Foreplay and petting, both before and after, usually last much longer.
A minute thirty for my state? Even at my worst or quickest I usually last longer than that. There is a lot more than getting it in that makes the experience good.

During my marriage I thought nothing of what is deemed average, as sex did average around 2-5 minutes. I'd say about 5-10 minutes was average in other situations/encounters, but in other relationships/partners, much, much longer. I had a "WTF!?!" moment the first time sex, intercourse, lasted longer than 30 minutes.
I also had a "WTF!?!?!" moment when it lasted far, far too damn long for my taste. There is a happy medium between 5 minutes and hours.
I can last forever. Like an hour or over. I can give a woman 3 for 1.
When guys spend a great deal of their adulthood getting no sex from women, they find 'innovative' ways to masturbate. That makes them last longer when they finally (or if they ever) get real sex.
It's medically documented actually and I also have a friend who was similarly unsuccessful with women and has the same situation.

I think it's all about the mood. Well, and physical abilities do enter into the equation as well. I've never really timed my wife and I, but we've been fast and we've taken hours. If the mood favors taking our time and making it last, that's what we do. If not, we go about our business...efficiently. Still, fast or slow I've never started a stop watch or even looked at the clock before/after. Time never has priority when it comes to sex!
And keep in mind that to fall into the "average" range there are a whole lot of people way above average and way under average!
Gosh, I'd hate to be on the low end of that bell curve in the 1:21-2:18 states!
