Gee, because maybe that would make it difficult to create a stable, healthy family?

Honestly some of you people seem to have forgotten that life doesn't end at 29. It's funny, the instant-gratification generation has no gift for foresight and imagination.

Do you feel threatened by a woman who earns more than you?

The real poll should ask if a certain income make up for a small penis ?

Or does a large income make a small penis look bigger ?

These would be excellent questions.

I thought he worked in a pet shop, and he just had an idea one time about selling tacos on his porch.

Oops, your stories are deviating!

How much $ do you expect a man you will consider marrying to make? The basic minimum you expect him to make. Let's say mid 30s to early 40s in age, so he should have his career established by then. Let's say the median income geographically, so if you live in San Fransisco, chop a little off, if you live in Florida, move it a little up, etc, etc.

I'm not really interested in hearing why, I know the why. Numbers. Please just answer the poll.
I never really thought about it. Enough to pay for his own apartment and not hit me up for gas money.

Oh, and not have his testicles shrivel at the thought that I may earn more than him. That just screams of macho insecurity.

I think a good working definition of "support themselves" may be in the context of being financially able to support themselves within a similar standard of living. (Two people with marginally disparate incomes may still be living basically the same, or similar standards of living and be very financially compatable. In your example, a man who manages to support themselves on below poverty level wages is not likely to be living anywhere close to the same standard of living as someone making 100K.

Of course, basic salary is not the end all here either, as other assets, net worth, debt, etc come into play.

Meh. A good buddy of mine makes a nice six figures in genetic patenting. Her husband stays home and runs a sports memorabilia business online. Works for them. It's her third marriage, his first, and if memory serves me correctly, he's about 12 years younger than she is. They've been married 13 or 14 years now.

If horsepower doesn't, a large income certainly won't.
