Personally, I find it a huge turn off. I avoid people with trashy mouths. There is no necessity for it around people not in an "inner circle" of intimate friends, and only then when the situation can demand an expletive.
Its such a pity that moral values and respect in this regard have gone down the drain. It continues to surprise me that TV shows and serials are constantly applying these expletives to their acting staff, which immediately gets my back up and I consider this an invasion of my rights to hear excessive use.
I am not a prude by any means. Having served in the armed for forces for a number of years and being a realist with my friends, occasionally using expletives myself, I do measure them when around people that are not in my intimate circle of friends and can use other forms of expression. I think it boils down to respect.
There is nothing worse than being in the supermarket/on the street and hear adolescents or pre-ten year old's mouthing trashy words in a public place at the top of their voices. Parental discipline is certainly lacking. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times with the example being given by those around them.
I had just finished taking my second law school exam this week. A 3 hour exam had just finished and I was packing up my stuff when I heard this 20-something year old woman say to another 20-something, "I thought that test was shi_tty!" I used to hear men talk like this all the time, but it seems that women now use more profanity than the guys. What gives? A generational thing? Some kind of new trend?
Its basically the outpouring of Feminism , with women wanting equal rights as the Guys to act, talk, live anyway they feel like . People who use vulgar , foul, and vile language try to give the excuse that its just a way 'to express oneself' ... much the same that Micheal Jackson was compelled to grab his Package and push it forward, when dancing . It is the result of american culture that no longer cares about right from wrong , capitalizing on constititional freedoms with a perverted twist to them so they can feel independent and entitled , and the fulfilling of personal apathetic demeanor. And in response , they like to say its 'prudish' and 'repressive' to take a stand against such obvious wrongs . In short, its an absence of shame and guilt thru a suppressed moral conscience . Im pleased to see you speak up against it , but be prepared to be called 'A Bigot' since youve now rocked the politically correct Boat.
I grew up in the 60s and never use swear words around women and rarely around men. I think I use it most around my brothers, but under no circumstances do I use such language around my family, mom, dad, sister, wife, kids. Just a big turn off to hear women using foul language. Maybe I'm just getting older and have a different standard. I also wonder if there are any geographical differences.

Ive found that as women in America have take a downturn toward morality , that it has affected the nation profoundly. Historically, women have set the standard by demanding a man act a certain way and treat them right...but in the last few decades we see women bowing to the god of their impulses, urges, and cultures lifestyle philosophies to the point that the natural response from Men is one of disrespect . Its easy to see how women are generally viewed by Men today when you examine pop music , pornography, and even early evening TV programming. Its kind of backfired on women, because, they want to be like the guys....but they STILL want to be respected and honored (not all, unfortunately) .

I'm no feminist. I choose a mixture of the two and lucky for me I can. But to imply that a woman (not a child) swearing, boils down to lack of respect, parenting, education, class- or whatever other spill I've missed out. Just shows that those with such narrow minds live in PG13 bubbles of there own creation.

Its not the minority of men but the majority of men that treat women like animals ; its portrayed thru ALL the Media , its part of our culture, and its what the Sexual Revolution means to almost every man who partakes in it . Women have to own up to their share as well however...if they demanded they be treated with respect, werent so easy when it comes to getting them into bed , and didnt flaunt their sexuality by exposing their breasts and wearing skirts and shorts up to their crotch...then Men would have FOLLOWED the womans lead and be MADE to respect them. Thats the fundamental mistake that women made which backfired on them -- they followed a Lie . I feel sad for the few women out there that cant get a date because the perannah of a 'man' makes it clear hes looking for sex on the first or second date and if the woman doesnt want to put out then they dont get the (superficial) treatment of being 'respected' over a cheap and quick dinner . The women who have some sense of morality and ethics left, should be darn well ticked-off at women who give their own gender a black-eye .
