The question is offensive at its core. Why is marriage assumed to be the desired state? WHY ARE YOU MARRIED thread begins in 3... 2...
Seriously, stop assuming we want what you want or probably no longer want or realize you never wanted.
It's like people in prison asking why are you free. Bc I have common sense?
I just took it to mean "Why aren't you in a relationship?", not necessarily a marriage.

I get what that poster is saying though.
The question is kind of rhetorical and intrusive. If you have an answer there's a problem, if you don't have an answer, it's a problem. The question doesn't really have an answer honestly. It just gives off the impression a person is SUPPOSE to be in a relationship or they are expected to be. I believe it's projection more than anything.

I don't think it's an offensive or intrusive question to ask here in the Relationships forum, but that could potentially be the case elsewhere.
Lately, this question has a different meaning for me. My own mother is hinting that she wants grandchildren. She is wondering why I have never been in a relationship and why the rest of her children are single again.
I'd like to think that women are intimidated by my beauty, wit and charm. I'm really just too dam picky and there's not many choices in my area to date.
