A high profile in DC would definitely mean I would never, ever, even date him within the continental United States.

One date... and a "BUT"

I think the indecisiveness answers your own question.

You... I mean your friend, shouldn't go with this guy on a trip after only one date. That's how girls get themselves into trouble and most likely regret it down the line. What do you... I mean your friend, going to do when they get there and realize that you no longer like this guy. That now makes the situation very awkward for them. You... I mean your friend, just needs to be patient and get to know him more before they start to take vacations together, move in, co-sign on a loan, combine bank accounts, get pregnant, etc..., etc... But now a days people don't do that any longer. They just jump into sh*t without thinking.

I highly doubt you... I mean your friend will take this advice and go anyway to come crying back to you on how the guy wanted to sleep with her and she caved in and now feels used and dirty and no longer likes the guy.

We don't know if the friend went. Seems she and her friend already made up their minds about the DC guy. Maybe all the advice falls on deaf ears

In another thread Insurance for visitors to US 03-09-2015 Op mentions her mother is 80.
Assuming most people have friends around their own age, which is why I asked how old is the friend?
Perhaps she has a much younger friend.

One date and he sends her a plane ticket to France? That's more than a little too fast and kind of creepy.

Now I'm curious to know how this turned out, since the OP hasn't posted a reply in a year.

Could the friend agree to separate rooms and insist on more dates before the trip?

I may be a little more adventurous than others, but I would definitely want to know they guy better. I always would want enough money available to get out of a scenario if necessary. Has the friend traveled much internationally on her own?

Your friend also needs to keep track on her own passport at all times.
