Why not post or share something good that happened, or a big accomplishment or success? I don't mind hearing about other people's successes and accomplishments.

why can't you just have pride without posting?
Because at times I (and other people) like sharing good news.

or maybe in conversation with friends/family tell them about your accomplishments IN PERSON in conversation,
99% of my family and friends live 400-2400+ miles away, so that is not a viable option.

the way it used to be done, and share it with people you love/care about.
SM can be a convenient, viable way to share all sorts of news, or whatever people wish to share. Don't like it? Unfollow or unfriend.

WHY MUST IT BE POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA?!?!? i'm convinced it's solely to get an abundance of compliments.
It's not an issue of "must." It's an issue of want. Because some people want to. So what if it's for compliments, praise, appreciation, validation, etc. I'm happy for/when family and friends share great news. I can empathize.

Quote:
sorry i'm venting, i just can't understand the whole posting on social media thing... ABOUT ANYTHING - not just selfies.
I can't understand why you care so much about other people's doings and happenings.

My GF is a high school chemistry teacher and she loves the Kardashians and those home buying/makeover shows. She does selfies, but not like in an obsessive way. She doesn't own a selfie stick FWIW.

I had to politely ask my gf to stop doing this when we first met. She doesn't listen

Do you mind your GF being like that all? Question for guys mostly I guess.
LOL!!! No, it's generally narcissism.
