I'm a person who likes science and technical stuff. Most Asians are into that which is why I target them than any other race.
There is a lot of generalization here.... (I am also Asian)
Most of the female Asians I know are in the medical field... mostly around nursing.
You should join science and technical groups.... you'll meet the few females that would understand your interests in the topic. Around here there are technical groups in the computer sciences that meet monthly and quite active. I may work in the technical field but never dated a woman in it.
Sure, if you can afford it. They're after your money, so it's not just about the airfare. They don't turn anyone down who has money. If that's the sort of woman you're looking for. They're definitely not shy!
It might surprise you that it generally isn't true.
My opinion on average Thai women is that they are far more shy than American women and they're definitely NOT "much easier to meet". I have just a bit experience but but that's my realistic take... unless OP speaks of women who work around the tourist areas and those who actively go after tourists, primarily because of their economical and any other "advantage" over average Thais. He has similar "groups" of people (especially women) around the whole globe, including America.
If anything, he'll also probably find more "gold-diggers" at home and he'll find them the most in Scandinavia... which is weird, given that Scandinavian countries are known to be not only very wealthy but also involve strong presence of "social state", so the money itself shouldn't be an issue at all (This is my personal observation).
Oh well, maybe many men actually only frown upon gold-diggers solely because they aren't their target and when they become the target of gold-digging when they relocate to a much less affluent country than their own, they like it.
Unfortunately, most men seem to be the most impressed with Thai women who work in "related" or directly IN "leisure" occupations that Thailand became known among Westerners. OP, you wouldn't want to bring home a local you-know-who, so it's a really moot point if you are impressed by some woman who's doing the same in another country across the globe!
All-in-all, OP, just start doing things that will give you an opportunity to actually meet women to eventually date, you will already make a progress. You need to take more active role in order to have an opportunity to date someone, that's all.... but if you're interested to bring a gold-digger from across the world, the choice is all yours.... because you'll hardly meet a genuine Thai woman, out of the blue... and some other types of Thai women are actively making their case to eventually get a chance to meet some guys from America!
I'm past thirty and in this same boat, but try not to let it bother me too much.
If anything bothers me, it's my current work nature and the location I'm in that keeps me from getting out and doing anything fun, really.
And this would include participating in particular hobbies you would find you enjoy and then potentially meeting others that like to do them.

How in the hell do you make it to 30 without getting a taste... I mean really, I was never much of a lady killer in my youth, but damn... I mean just take a trip to Vegas if you need to.... You almost have to work at not being able to meet a woman/man to have a roll in the hay as they say I'm not the most socially hip person and I manage to lose mine. I mean you really need to be some kind of social outcast to get to 30 or worse 40 without sampling the wares......
