So that’s what is going on here? She caught feels at some point and that’s why our friendship is so strained?
Maybe?
Either way, when one person develops feelings for another, even confusing feelings, it makes it very hard to put that horse back in the barn and "just" be real friends.
If that's the case, you're both gonna have to back waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.
Seems like you don't really like her like that and want to keep her in your backpocket to feed your ego, because honestly, I wouldn't become best friends with a girl who I was interested in. Either you're friends, romantic lovers, or you're not friends at all. But if she's the sisterly type, let her know that you don't have feelings for her. I don't think it's cool as a guy to ever lead someone on.

I haven’t done anything that you are accusing me of....
We are/were friends....that’s it. We *both* said many times that we were like siblings to one another.
My husband had a female friend who was like this when we were dating as well as when we were engaged.
She behaved like she literally owned him.
The key word is had since they are no longer friends.
So that was happening over a long period of time. Why did you put up with it? Why did he not tell her off sooner?
