BTW, the phrase "Perception is reality" is a great way for me to tell my husband to be quiet...it is quite hard to fight someones feelings...works everytime!
Just a little strategy session...
I understand that Philly is crap for him, and I am sorry that he has to experience living in a nasty area. That sucks. So when he posts he could say 'some areas' are awful, or 'where I live' is terrible.
Not 'the whole city of Philadelphia sucks' on a public forum which people come on to be able to decide where to move to. Taking threads totally off topic, making constant unpleasant remarks, etc. By not giving ANY positive comments to balance his opinion he is giving a slanted outlook, and that's not fair whether that's his perception or not.
It's the same as someone saying All Women are Losers. Yes that may be their perception, but if they put it out there on a public forum, then I am sure as anything going to jump in and point out that while SOME women may be losers, that does not mean that ALL women are losers.
Ok, I will give you that. There is a huge difference here between the 'haves' and 'have nots'. However this is true of many if not MOST cities. Not just here. And just because you consider CC to be for the priviliged, does not make it bad. In fact it's gorgeous. And way cheaper than most east coast cities. You should try NYC and see how you get on there with a similar budget.
NYC is not 'most east coast cities'...it's probably one step above Philly in expenses.

No you be honest,I pride myself in being more honest than most. So much so that I'm willing to take abuse for it if that'll get the word out there.
Ok dear what would you like me to say about the place(that hasn't been said ad nauseum already?)...what yes center city, art museum, right. Just reading out of the tourist brochures here
Ok how about South St...seems pretty diverse there...

ONE STEP??? Try close to 5 times as expensive in real estate. Philly is positively cheap by comparison.

Excellent, thank you. I'm not sure if you are saying that these areas are actually NICE.... but reading between the lines, I think that is what you are doing. SO that's great. You ARE able to be more honest about the city.
BTW I don't consider a totally one sided view to be being honest. Actually it's the reverse, but perhaps we will save that discussion for another day.

OK, if I intervene again I am sending a bill Let's just all get along! How does that song go ??? "Why can't we be friends?"
I am a die hard Red Sox fan and I actually just made friends with a Yankee fan. If that can happen, all things are possible
BTW, I love your emoticons!!! I wonder if they have the ones I would want??? A little sign language would go a long way in the political forum...if you know what I mean!
