So I was reading the book Super Flirt, as it was recommended to me on this forum. And it worked, though maybe not in the way it was intended to work! This guy that I've really liked for awhile (but at first I was engaged to GI Joe & would never have considered anyone else. But now that due to his choices I find myself single once more, I an able to deal with the past am ready to date again) came over to my New Year's Eve party last night.
Anyway, the guy I really like and I have been friends for a couple of years and he is also single at the moment. He came down from DC (where he lives and where I'll be living in May) to spend the night and weekend with some of our mutual friends. He was at my party and saw the book sitting on the table by my favorite reading chair. He picked it up and started thumbing through it.
"So you are reading this are you?"
"Yeah, it is pretty good so far, I thinking I'm learning some good tips."
"I don't know, I think you do ok without it. You have my attention."
"Oh I do, do I?"
"Yeah, you look quite sexy tonight. I love the new hairstyle."
"Thanks."
And that was the end of that conversation, as some people came downstairs and he and I went to the kitchen to get the pizza out of the oven. At midnight he and I were sitting next to each other on my love-seat getting ready to watch the ball drop in Times Square, and at the stroke of midnight he kissed me and whispered
"You don't need the book, I like you without all those fancy tips. What do you say we go out for lunch on Friday?"
I of course agreed! So we have our first date tomorrow! I'm excited. We are going to lunch and then a walk in the park.
So, I don't remember who recommend the book, but thanks!!!
common current belief is that if a woman is aggressive enough she can have anything. no skill no poise not smarts no class, just sheer animal aggression. human will-- will take you anywhere?
where did that come from? assertiveness training gone wild.

I think it was me that put that forward and I'm glad it worked out for you.
For me one time it didn't when a girl I was interested in picked it up in my room and looked though it and was quite pissed off. She didn't like the fact it was a decoder wheel for non verbal communication and felt "violated" that someone could read what she is truly on about by picking up on her non verbal cues. OOOkay whatever.
Actually the book helped me quite a lot not just with flirting but also got me thinking consciously about non verbal communication regarding how I present myself to the world in work situations. Especially considering I can be a public face for a company and I do some public speaking.
