My MIL is one tough lady. Short Italian lady with a Napoleon complex. The lady has bigger cajones than most men. There is no reasoning with her. Nice enough lady, but look out.
Unfortunately my wife has some of these tendencies also.

As far as the OP, a Napoleonic complex typically refers to a man. My Dad had one. Therefore, to balance this out, my Mom was, and is, "deferential."
But then, I've seen Italian women run matriarchal households. They've got the short, squatty frame and sometimes even the short hair and booming voice to go with it. Their husbands seem to be too wimpy and seemed to die early...hmmm. To me, these ladies seemed kind of butch.
