I loved turning 30; in fact, that was my best decade, especially the second half.
I got very depressed and cried like crazy when I hit 40. But perhaps there was a reason for that, considering the tragedies and life-changing occurrences I suffered that decade.
None of the milestone birthdays are a big deal to me, though I did have a good time on my 21st, I was already drinking well before that, so it wasn't so much about being able to legally drink. Some friends threw me a nice celebration and it was an all around good day. I don't remember 30, probably because I was going through a bad time and that stretch of my life is pretty much a blur. At 40 that's when you begin to take inventory of your life, which can either be good or bad depending on where you are at in life. It's also an opportunity to spark some ambition into you if you feel you haven't accomplished all that you thought you would at forty. I think so long as you are healthy, employed and have a roof over your head you're doing alright.
21 - I was already way over drinking in excess the bar scene was not for me.
30 - Was hard. Not because of the age but because of my situation. Looking up at 30 and realizing you married the wrong woman and have 2 kids with her.......
40 - still a ways off. I will resurrect the thread and let ya'll know.
