Women in their 20's want men they can mold into something good because it's a challenge. Anything else to them is boring and they like to brag to their friends how they changed said guy. It's like going out into the wilderness and taming a wild horse.
Problem is, large percentage of these GIRLS get kicked in the head by the wild horse they try to tame after years of trying. Horse runs off, never to be seen again.
Girl is left alone crosseyed and confused in her 30's wondering why she didn't just get a pre-tamed one.
I've had problems with women like that too. Without sounding like I'm blowing my own trumpet, I'm a great fella and I have dumped a few woman for that exact reason that they want to mold me into something they have fantasised about from romantic comedies or wherever else.
They didn't the know the concepts of compromise and take & give. I can't have my 100% ideal woman cos it's impractical, and I will always accept the flaws that comes with a woman after weighing up her characteristics.
But some women are just incapable of doing that. If a man has a, b and c, but is falling short on x and y, then they will dump him quicker than you can imagine. No sense of comprise at all.
I have though, observed that many men are not alphas. That's why many women do not want a man that is in control. Many women do not want a man to be in control because many have never known a true alpha. Others are dominant women themselves and what they are happy with is a beta male, or someone that is not an alpha. I say, to each his/her own. Somebody has to take the betas.
And why is this? Increasingly I'd say most men are betas. And being in high schools all the time on my current assignment, I can tell you it's only getting worse, where it seems most men aren't alphas. In fact, one of my schools, there are more lesbian couples than hetero couples, with their being more alpha females than males.

That is half true. They do want to tame this guy some to put him in the sweet stop. If they break him a bit she can establish some control. However the main reason is he is a big turn on. He is going somewhere and women want a piece of it and a piece of him in his offspring. If he has too much going then she has to share him. Got to break him of that. Making the big man your exclusive property is a huge bragging right.

I am going to disagree. Alpha is primary social status. Nerds can fix cars.
EDIT: beta male is synonymous with attracting women by being a primary provider and baby sitter.

Alpha/beta behavior is most often studied in wolves. Wolves mate for life. Alpha males also only mate w/ Alpha females. When the Alpha female is feeding her young the Betas must protect her and her babies. She also eats before the beta males and females.
