Has anyone took risks in love, like have you dated or ended up marrying someone who threw up a lot of red flags, or had emotional problems, etc...

Like i work with this guy who has been married 15 years to his wife who when he first met her, she was in the process of divorce from an abusive husband and the first year he says it was hell dealing with some of her emotional scars but she ended up getting over it and they ended up married and are going strong. He says he took a major risk because he knew he could have just been a rebound or she just dated him because she wanted to get away from her ex but he took the risk and it payed off.

Anyone have any stories or know someone elses or have an opinion on this? I'm wondering wether or not i should take a risk with someone im seeing now.

It's always a risk. You never know what is going to happen in any relationship. If you put your heart out there, it could get broken or you could end up with something wonderful.

We try and take measured risks, but even then, love is a powerful drug.

Yep......so true. You take a risk, when you stand at that altar, and say,"I do." You are dedicating your entire life to this certain person, for the rest of your/his life!! Thats a loonngggg time. Risk? You had better make sure you don`t have any, before you get this far!!!!

Life is full of risks, but you have to pay attention to those red flags. Don't base your situation on someone else's successes or failures. Your friend's wife could have easily gone the other direction.

My guy threw a few red flags when we met. I guess I had a few red flags of my own, since I was rebounding at the time and have an aversion to ever marrying again. He also had a lot of positive qualities, so I figured I would take a chance. That was 9 years ago and we're still going strong; so I would call the relationship a success.

I gambled- I decided to overlook the red flags and don the rose colored glasses of love. I gambled- and lost.

I'm not out of the game though, I would gamble again as long as the red flags aren't there.
