Yeah - but - someone with an underactive and inactive thyroid who is not on medication is not ok. Weight gain is not the only symptom, it affects the heart and causes fatigue (amongst other problems, but this is not a medical thread). The thyroid produces a hormone that the heart needs. My cousin had hers removed due to cancer and is now on a synthetic hormone.
shes on meds for it.. she can lose weight though, shes done well before..
Absolutely not, the same respect and tact remains for both sides, man or woman. Both genders have feelings and esteem to protect.
I was living in other countries for a while where you just say it like it is.
If someone is fat, thin, ugly, handsome.... whatever, you just say it up front. It was SO refreshing. I thought it was great.
Here in the US. There is so much political correctness and over-politeness. People are constantly getting offended by something and self-righteous indignation is normal behavior. If you want to speak on a sensitive topic, you have to be extremely careful about how you word it and there is just so much eggshell walking in conversations.
But the US is so isolated. People just dont know any better. To many of us, it's just the only way. But that's how we are about most things.
People around here just get lost in the American way, and think that it's the ONLY way. Well it's not. Theres a whole world out there.
